Pages for each exam

How to use it

  1. Find your exam in the table below and check which files it asks for. Some exams take your photo live through the camera, so there is no photo file.

  2. Open the page for your exam, or pick the file straight from the list in the resizer on this page.

  3. Choose your photo, signature, thumb impression or declaration and press Resize.

  4. Read the line under the preview. It says whether the file is inside the KB range and gives the final pixel size.

  5. Download the file and upload it on the official form.

Why exam forms reject photos and signatures

Online application forms for government exams and ID cards in India check every image before they accept it. The file has to be the right type, usually JPG or JPEG. It has to be inside a size range in KB, and sometimes it has to have a set width and height in pixels or centimetres. A photo straight from a phone camera fails all three checks: it is a few megabytes, it is the wrong shape, and sometimes it is in the iPhone HEIC format. The form simply refuses it, often with an error that does not say why.

Each exam sets its own rules, and they change between cycles. That is the main reason people get stuck. A size that worked for last year's form, or one copied from a website, may be wrong for this year's notice. On this site every number comes from one record per exam, read from the official notice. The table shows the source and the date we last checked it, and the resizer uses the same record, so what you read and what the tool makes always agree.

How the resizer works

The tool runs completely in your browser. Your photo is not uploaded to TaskNinja or anywhere else. It first crops or pads the picture to the frame for that file. A face photo is cropped to fill the frame. A signature, thumb print or declaration is fitted inside the frame with white padding, so nothing is cut off. Then it saves the image as a JPEG and searches for the highest quality that keeps the file under the maximum. Only if the lowest quality is still too heavy does it reduce the pixel size.

Many forms also have a minimum, such as 10 KB, 20 KB or even 30 KB. A clean signature on white paper can come out smaller than that. Where the notice gives only a minimum pixel size or a “preferred” one, the tool makes the frame larger, in the same shape, until the file reaches the minimum, and it tells you it has done so. Where the notice fixes nothing about pixels, it uses a sensible passport-shaped frame and says so in the table.

Tips that save a second attempt

Take the photo in daylight in front of a plain white or light wall, looking straight at the camera, with no cap and no dark glasses. Most forms want your face to fill most of the picture. For a signature, use plain white paper and a black pen, photograph it from straight above without a shadow, and crop close to the ink. A tiny signature in the middle of a big white page is a common reason for rejection.

Keep your original photos. You may need to upload them again when you correct a form, and you will need printed copies of the same photo for the exam centre. If a document needs to be a PDF under a size limit, use the PDF tools on this site, which also run in your browser.

FAQ

Are these sizes official?
Yes. Each one is copied from the official notice or guidelines page linked in the table, with the date we last read it. If the notice for your cycle says something different, the notice wins. Type its numbers into the boxes.
Why is there no photo for SSC and RRB NTPC?
Both now capture your photo live through the webcam or phone camera inside the application. You only upload a signature file.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The resizer runs in your browser. Nothing is sent to our server.
Why did the tool make my signature bigger in pixels?
Because it was under the KB minimum at the normal size. Where the notice allows a larger image, the tool enlarges it in the same shape so the file passes the minimum.
My exam is not listed. What can I do?
Use the general photo resizer and type the size, pixels and KB from your notice. We add an exam only after we have read its official notice.
