How to use it

  1. Pick “JEE Main photo” below. It is set to 10–200 KB on a passport-shaped frame.

  2. Choose a recent colour photo on a white background where your face fills most of the frame and your ears are visible. Press Resize.

  3. Check the size line under the preview and download the file.

  4. Switch to “JEE Main signature”, choose a photo of your signature on white paper, press Resize, and download it once it is between 10 and 100 KB.

  5. If your Class 10 certificate PDF is over 300 KB, compress it before you upload it.

What the JEE Main 2026 bulletin says

The JEE (Main) 2026 Information Bulletin from NTA asks for a recent passport size photograph in colour, as a JPG or JPEG between 10 KB and 200 KB. Your face, without a mask, should take up 80% of the photo with both ears visible against a white background. The signature must be a JPG or JPEG between 10 KB and 100 KB and clearly legible. The Class 10 certificate or mark sheet is a PDF between 50 KB and 300 KB, and so is a disability or UDID certificate if you have one.

If you are not verifying your identity through Aadhaar or DigiLocker, you also upload an identity proof as a JPG between 10 KB and 200 KB. Separately, the form asks you to upload a live photograph taken at the time you fill it in. The photo file on this page is the scanned passport photo, not the live one.

There is no fixed pixel size

You will see “3.5 × 4.5 cm” and “3.5 × 1.5 cm” quoted on many sites for JEE Main. Those sizes are not in the 2026 bulletin. NTA sets the KB range and how the photo should look, and leaves the pixel size open. The tool uses a passport-shaped frame at 300 DPI for the photo, which keeps your face sharp and lands well inside 200 KB. For the signature it uses a wide strip so the full signature fits with a little white space around it.

Because the limits have a floor of 10 KB, a very plain image can end up too small. The tool first tries the highest quality. If the file is still under 10 KB, it makes the frame a little larger in the same shape until it passes the floor, and it tells you it did so.

Getting a photo that passes

Most rejected JEE photos fail on looks, not size. Stand in front of a white wall in daylight, face the camera straight on, and keep your hair off your ears. Do not use a selfie with a filter or a cut-out from a group photo. Take the photo, crop it on your phone so your face and shoulders fill the frame, then bring it here.

NTA matches photos across the application, the admit card and the exam centre, so use the same recent photo throughout and keep the original. When the JEE Main 2027 bulletin comes out, check its upload section against the table on this page; the date we last checked the source is shown above.
