What this tool does

How to use it

  1. Maximum 50 KB is already filled in, with no minimum. The frame starts at 3.5 by 4.5 centimetres.

  2. Change the centimetres or switch the unit to pixels if your notice prints a pixel size.

  3. Drop the original photo. Leave the format on JPEG for a typical exam box.

  4. Press Resize and check the preview: face visible, file under 50 KB.

  5. Download that file. Do not run it through a second compressor.

Common uses

50 KB is the number a lot of people remember from exam photo rules, often as the top of a 20–50 KB band. This page sets the maximum to 50 KB and leaves the minimum at 0, on a 3.5 by 4.5 centimetre portrait frame. That is a useful start for a face photo. It is not the full SSC or IBPS rule, and it is not a minimum of 20 KB. If your notice says the file must be at least 20 KB and at most 50 KB, set the minimum to 20 on this page or use the SSC-style preset on the main Resize Photo page. A 15 KB file can be rejected for being too small.

The frame is 3.5 by 4.5 centimetres at 300 DPI until you change it. Some notices want pixels instead, such as 200 by 230. Switch the unit to pixels and type those numbers. The KB box and the pixel box are both checked by real portals. Matching only one of them is a common reason an upload fails.

Crop to fill is the right fit for most exam portraits, so the head and shoulders cover the frame. You will lose the edges of the original. Stand far enough back in the original photo that the crop does not slice the hair or the collar. Fit with padding leaves a border and is rarely what a photo box wants. It is better for a signature. For a signature under a smaller cap, use the 20 KB page.

Passport and visa portals sometimes want a square photo and a file that is larger than 50 KB. Do not force this preset on them. The main page has a 51 by 51 millimetre passport-style preset with a higher maximum. College forms vary by university. Read the line that names JPG, the pixels, and the KB, then type those values. This page only pre-fills 50 KB and the centimetre frame.

Take the photo in even light, against a plain wall, before you resize. The tool cannot fix a dark room or a group photo. Crop to the one person first in your camera app if the frame is full of other people. Then drop that crop here. Resizing a group photo down to 50 KB will not turn it into an exam portrait.

Private, and the limits

The photo is processed only in your browser. It is not uploaded, not stored, and not sent to an AI model. No account is required. The daily limit you may see on writing tools does not apply here.

The preview reports the size in KB and the pixel size after the fit. Trust that line. If it says the file is still above 50 KB, the download is not inside the cap. JPEG is the format that can reach this size. A preset is a convenience, not an official exam specification.

FAQ

Is 50 KB already set?
Yes. The maximum is 50 KB and the minimum is 0. The frame starts at 3.5 by 4.5 centimetres. Change either if your notice differs.
My form says 20 to 50 KB. Is minimum 0 correct?
Only if the form has no minimum. If it says 20 to 50 KB, set the minimum to 20 so a tiny file is not treated as a success.
Does this upload the photo?
No. The resize runs in this tab. The file stays on your device.
Can I enter pixels instead of centimetres?
Yes. Change the unit to pixels and type the width and height from the notification.
Why does the face look soft?
50 KB does not leave much room for detail. The tool lowers JPEG quality before it shrinks the pixels. Start from a sharp, well-lit original.
Will this add a white background?
No. It does not edit the background. Fit with padding can add empty space around the photo. Crop to fill does not invent a backdrop.
