A short guide
Many exam forms ask for a photo around 20–50 KB, and a signature that is smaller still. College admissions and some state portals use the same idea with different pixels. The number that counts is the one printed on your notification. Resize Photo keeps common starting points for SSC-style, UPSC-style, and IBPS-style sizes, and it says they are not official specifications. If the notice disagrees, type the width, height, and KB from the notice.
Three pages open with a maximum already filled in. 20 KB starts as a short signature frame. 50 KB and 100 KB start as a 3.5 by 4.5 centimetre photo. Change the frame before you resize if you are not making that shape. JPEG is what usually hits a small KB limit. PNG of a photograph often stays too big.
The tool lowers quality before it shrinks the pixels. If the form also sets a minimum, type that minimum. A file that is too small can be rejected as well as one that is too big. It does not change the background, add a suit, or certify the photo. Passport and visa sites sometimes want a square and a different file size. Use the passport-style preset on the main page, or type those measurements, and still follow that site’s own line.
If the upload is a PDF rather than a photo, use the PDF tools. Compress PDF has its own 100 KB and 200 KB caps for documents. A JPG turned into a PDF is not the same as a photo file under 50 KB.
