What this tool does

Convert WebP to JPG (or PNG) in your browser. Many files at once, quality slider, white background for transparent WebP, ZIP download. Nothing is uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Choose the .webp files. You can pick many at once, and mix in PNG, AVIF or HEIC if you have them.

  2. JPG is already selected. Leave quality at 85% for a good balance, or raise it for print.

  3. If a WebP has a see-through background, keep White so it looks right on documents, or choose Black.

  4. Press Convert to JPG. Check the previews and the old and new size of each file.

  5. Download the JPG, or all of them as a ZIP.

Common uses

WebP is the format many websites now use to load pictures faster, so when you right-click and save an image, or download one from a shop page or a news site, you often get a .webp file. Phones and current browsers open it, but plenty of other places do not: older versions of Photoshop and Windows Photo Viewer, some printers and photo kiosks, office templates, and many job, college and government upload forms that list only JPG, JPEG or PNG. Converting to JPG is the quickest fix, and it is what people mean when they search for webp to jpg.

A WebP and a JPG of the same picture look the same at normal quality. Google's own figures say lossy WebP is 25 to 34% smaller than a comparable JPEG, so expect the JPG to be a bit larger than the WebP you started with. That is normal and not a fault. If the new file is too heavy for a form, lower the quality slider and press Update, or pick a maximum size in the Resize menu, then check the new size under the preview. For a strict limit such as 50 KB, finish with Resize Photo to KB.

Some WebP files carry transparency, such as product photos cut out on a clear background, stickers and logos. JPG has no transparency, so something must fill those pixels. Many quick converters leave them black, which looks broken. This page fills them with white by default, lets you choose black instead, and tells you how many files were affected. If you need to keep the clear background, press PNG instead of JPG; PNG keeps transparency and opens almost everywhere too.

Animated WebP files (the moving stickers and short loops some sites use) are converted from their first frame, because JPG holds a single picture. The result note says so whenever that happens. Everything else in a WebP, colour, size and orientation, carries over, and the original stays untouched on your device.

Need it the other way? The same tool turns JPG and PNG into WebP for a faster website: press WebP instead of JPG. It also makes AVIF, which is smaller still, and ICO for a favicon. See the main image converter page for what each format is best at.

Private, and the limits

Your WebP files are opened and saved again by your own browser, in this tab. They are not uploaded, stored or shared, and there is no sign-up, watermark or limit on the number of files. That matters for screenshots of private chats, ID cards and work documents that were saved as WebP. We only count anonymous events such as Convert being pressed, never the file names or pictures.

Limits: up to 200 pictures per batch and 60 MB per picture. Files that are not really WebP, such as a renamed PDF or TIFF, are detected from their first bytes and refused with a clear message instead of a broken JPG.

FAQ

How do I convert WebP to JPG on Windows without software?
Open this page in Chrome, Edge or Firefox, choose the WebP files, press Convert to JPG and download. Nothing is installed and nothing is uploaded.
Can I convert many WebP files to JPG at once?
Yes. Pick up to 200 files together. When more than one is ready, Download all saves them in one ZIP with the same names ending in .jpg.
Why is my JPG larger than the WebP?
WebP compresses better than JPG, so the same picture at the same look usually takes more bytes as JPG. Lower the quality or resize if the size matters.
Why did the transparent part turn white?
JPG cannot store transparency, so those pixels are filled with white (or black if you pick it). Choose PNG to keep a clear background.
Does it work on an Android phone or iPhone?
Yes. Open the page in your phone's browser, choose the pictures from the gallery or files, convert, and the JPG saves to your downloads.
Is WebP to JPG conversion safe for private pictures?
Yes. The conversion happens on your device. The file is never sent to TaskNinja or anyone else.
