What this tool does

How to use it

  1. The maximum is already 200 KB on a 3.5 × 4.5 cm frame at 300 DPI. Set a minimum too if your form has one.

  2. Change the frame if your form gives a width and height. Otherwise keep the passport shape.

  3. Choose your photo and press Resize.

  4. Download the file once the size line says it is under 200 KB, and look at it at full size before you upload.

Common uses

200 KB is a generous limit, and it is common on newer forms. The NTA bulletins for NEET (UG) 2026 and JEE (Main) 2026 accept a passport photo between 10 KB and 200 KB. Finger and thumb impression images on NEET use the same range. Many college admission and scholarship portals also cap photos at 200 KB. With this much room, a photo can stay sharp and natural, so there is no reason to crush it down to 20 KB.

The problem is usually the other way round: a phone photo is 3 or 4 MB, and the form will not take it. This page sets a 3.5 by 4.5 cm passport frame at 300 DPI, which is 413 by 531 pixels. At that size a JPEG at high quality is typically well under 200 KB, so the tool can keep the quality close to the top. It crops the photo to fill the frame. If you would rather keep the whole picture with a white border, switch Fit to “Fit with padding”.

Remember the minimum. NEET and JEE say 10 to 200 KB, so a tiny file can be rejected too. Type 10 in the Minimum KB box if your form has that floor. The tool will report if the result is under it. For the full list of files those exams ask for, with links to the bulletins, see the NEET and JEE Main pages.

200 KB also works for things outside exams: a profile photo for a job portal, a product photo for a marketplace listing, or a picture that a society or office wants by email. Set a square frame in pixels for profile pictures. If you need something lighter for WhatsApp status or a form that says 100 KB, the 100 KB page does the same with a lower cap.

If you are starting from an iPhone photo in HEIC format and your browser cannot open it, change the camera setting to “Most Compatible” or share the photo as a JPG first. Screenshots work too, but a screenshot of a photo loses sharpness, so use the original when you can.

Private, and the limits

Resizing happens on your device. The photo is not uploaded, not stored and not passed to any AI tool. You do not need to sign in, and there is no watermark on the download.

The size line is the check that counts. If it says the file is under 200 KB, it is. The tool does not change the background or your face, and it does not certify that a form will accept the photo, because forms also check how the photo looks.

FAQ

Which forms allow a 200 KB photo?
NEET UG and JEE Main (10 to 200 KB) are well-known examples, along with many college and scholarship forms. Check your notice.
Will my photo lose quality?
Very little. At 413 × 531 pixels a high-quality JPEG usually fits easily inside 200 KB.
Does it upload my photo?
No. The tool works in your browser and the photo stays on your device.
Can I keep the original shape of my photo?
Yes. Choose “Fit with padding” and set the width and height in pixels to match your photo's shape.
My form says 50 to 200 KB. What do I change?
Type 50 in the Minimum KB box before you press Resize.
