What this tool does

Split PDF cuts one PDF into smaller PDFs, or copies the pages you pick into a new file, inside this browser tab.

How to use it

  1. Choose the PDF. Its name, size and page count appear at the top of the tool.

  2. Pick how to split: every page on its own, every few pages, one file per page range, or chosen pages into one new PDF.

  3. For ranges, type the pages, for example 1-3, 4-6 or 2, 5-7. “8-” means page 8 to the end.

  4. Press Split PDF, then download each file, or every file at once as a ZIP.

Common uses

The most common reason to split a PDF in India is an upload box that asks for one document while you have a scan of many. A bank sends a twelve-page statement and the loan portal wants only the last three months. A college sends a combined mark sheet and the scholarship form wants the Class 12 page alone. Choose “Pick pages into one new PDF”, type the page numbers, and you get a short file with just those pages, in the order you typed them.

“Every page as its own PDF” is useful when a scanner saved a stack of different documents as one file. Aadhaar, PAN, a caste certificate and an income certificate scanned together become four separate PDFs, each named with its page number. Rename them to what the portal expects before you upload, because a name like aadhaar.pdf is easier to pick from a list than page-1.pdf.

“Every few pages” suits long files that have to go in parts, such as a 60-page tender document for a portal that accepts 10 pages per upload. Set 10 and the download is six files. “By page ranges” is the flexible version: “1-2, 3-9, 10-” gives three files with exactly those pages, which is handy when the cover letter, the main document and the annexures must be attached in separate slots.

Splitting does not make pages lighter. A single scanned page can still be 2 MB. If the form also has a size cap, split first, then shrink only the part you need with Compress PDF or one of the fixed caps such as Compress PDF to 200 KB. Compressing a short file is faster and keeps more detail than compressing the whole scan and then cutting it.

Going the other way is just as easy. To join the parts back, or to add another PDF to them, use Merge PDF. If a page has to be sent as a picture rather than a PDF, for example a certificate that a WhatsApp group or an image-only upload box will accept, turn it into an image with PDF to JPG.

Private, and the limits

The PDF is opened and cut in this browser tab with pdf-lib, an open-source library. The file is not uploaded to TaskNinja or to anyone else, and nothing is kept after you close the tab. There is no account, no watermark and no daily limit, because no server or AI model is involved.

A few limits are worth knowing. Password-protected PDFs cannot be split here. Open the file with its password in your PDF app, save or print it as a new PDF, and split that copy. Pages keep their original size and quality, and links inside the pages usually survive, but form fields and bookmarks may not carry over to the parts. Very large scans with hundreds of pages depend on your phone or laptop memory. If the tab slows down, close other tabs or split the file in two passes.

FAQ

How do I take out only one page from a PDF?
Choose “Pick pages into one new PDF” and type that page number, for example 4. The download is a one-page PDF. The original file is not changed.
Can I split a PDF into separate pages on my phone?
Yes. The tool works in Chrome and Safari on Android and iPhone. Choose “Every page as its own PDF” and use Download all to get one ZIP file with every page.
What does “8-” mean in the page box?
Page 8 to the last page. “-3” means page 1 to page 3. Commas separate ranges, so “1-2, 5” is pages 1 and 2, then page 5.
Will the split pages lose quality?
No. The pages are copied as they are, without re-compressing images or text, so each part looks exactly like the original page.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. Splitting runs on your device in this browser tab, and the file stays with you.
Why does it say my PDF is password-protected?
The file is encrypted. Open it with its password in a PDF app, save it as a new PDF without a password, and split that copy.
