What this tool does

How to use it

  1. The size cap is already set to Under 100 KB. You can change it if your notice asks for a different number.

  2. Choose the PDF. A scan or a photo-heavy file is the kind that usually needs this cap.

  3. Press Compress PDF and wait for the image pass and the structural pass.

  4. If the result line says the file is under the cap, download it. If it is still over 100 KB, that is the smallest this pass could make.

Common uses

100 KB is a common ceiling on exam forms, scholarship uploads, and small government boxes in India. The notice might say “PDF up to 100 KB” next to a marksheet, a certificate, or a signed declaration. This page starts on that cap so you do not have to hunt for the control. It is still your job to read the notice. Some forms want 100 KB and also want the scan to stay in colour, or they want a black-and-white copy. The tool only changes file size.

A phone photo of a document is often 2 to 5 MB. Getting from there to 100 KB means the pictures inside the PDF have to be rebuilt at a lower quality. Text that was a photo of text will look softer. That is expected at this cap. If the portal also lets you upload 200 KB, and your pages become hard to read at 100 KB, use the 200 KB page instead. Do not keep re-compressing the same download over and over. Start again from the original file.

College admission portals and state job forms use this kind of limit because their servers reject large attachments. GST and income-tax uploads are often looser, but a small “supporting document” field can still say 100 KB. When you are unsure, look at the error the portal showed you. If it named 100 KB, this is the page. If it named a larger number, the main Compress PDF page also has 500 KB and 1 MB.

WhatsApp itself will usually accept a file far above 100 KB. People still ask for 100 KB when they are forwarding a form that they later have to upload. Make the small PDF here, check that your name and the dates are still readable, then send that file. The tool does not attach anything to WhatsApp for you.

The cap replaces the Light, Balanced, and Small quality buttons. Those buttons matter on the main page when you do not have a numeric limit. Here the page walks image quality and resolution down until the file is under 100 KB or until the ladder runs out. A structural pass then runs in the tab. The download is the smaller of those results. A PDF made only of vector text may already be under 100 KB, in which case the size will barely move.

Private, and the limits

Same privacy rule as the main compress tool: the file never leaves this browser. TaskNinja does not receive the PDF, does not store it, and does not run it through an AI model. Closing the tab discards the working copy. Keep the download.

Under 100 KB is a target, not a guarantee. If the smallest pass is still 140 KB, the page says that. Uploading a file that is over the portal’s limit will fail even if a website claims it compressed the file. Password-protected files are not unlocked here. A very long scan can also run out of memory on a phone. On a computer, try the original again if the tab becomes slow.

FAQ

Is the 100 KB cap already selected on this page?
Yes. Under 100 KB is selected when the page opens. You can switch to another cap if you need to.
What if my PDF is still over 100 KB?
The result line tells you the smallest size reached. Try a shorter export, fewer pages, or a black-and-white scan made in your camera app, then compress that new file once.
Will a 100 KB PDF still be clear enough to submit?
Sometimes. Short scans usually survive. A long colour scan of a stamp paper can become blotchy. Read the download at full size before you upload it.
Does this upload my document?
No. The compress pass runs on your device. The PDF is not sent to TaskNinja.
Is 100 KB the official size for SSC or UPSC?
No. This page does not publish an official exam rule. Many forms ask for a small PDF, and 100 KB is a number people meet often. Follow the PDF line in your notification.
Can I use this for a photo instead of a PDF?
No. This page only accepts a PDF. To shrink a JPG for a photo or signature box, use Resize Photo to 20KB or 50KB.
Should I compress the file twice?
No. A second pass on an already crushed PDF mostly makes it blurrier. If you need another try, start from the original.
