What this tool does

Combine semester SGPAs into one CGPA, weighted by credits or as a simple average, then see the percentage under your university rule. Free, nothing is uploaded.

How to use it

  1. SGPA to CGPA is already selected. Type the SGPA from each semester's grade card, one row per semester.

  2. Type the total credits for each semester if you have them, such as 20 or 22. Leave every credits box empty for a simple average.

  3. Tap Add a semester for each extra semester, up to 12. Remove a row with the cross.

  4. Pick a percentage rule if you also need a percentage. × 10 is chosen for you here, and you can switch to CBSE, VTU, GTU, SPPU or your own.

  5. Tap Calculate CGPA. Read the CGPA, the credit points working and the percentage, then copy the summary or download a CSV.

Common uses

SGPA is the grade point average for one semester and CGPA is the average across all semesters so far. Universities do not simply average the SGPAs. They multiply each SGPA by that semester's credits, add these credit points and divide by the total credits. A semester with 24 credits therefore counts for more than one with 18. VTU, AKTU, Anna University and SPPU regulations all define CGPA this way.

A worked example: semester 1 has an SGPA of 8.2 over 20 credits, semester 2 has 7.6 over 22 credits and semester 3 has 8.9 over 24 credits. The credit points are 164 + 167.2 + 213.6 = 544.8, the credits add to 66, and 544.8 ÷ 66 gives a CGPA of 8.25. A plain average of the three SGPAs would give 8.23, which is close here but can drift further when credit loads differ a lot.

If you do not know the credits, leave the credits column empty and the page takes a simple average, with a note saying so. Credits are printed on every semester grade card, usually as total credits or credits earned. Use the credits for the courses you passed if your university counts only earned credits.

Once you have the CGPA, the page also works out a percentage under the rule you choose, and a table shows the same CGPA under CBSE, × 10, old VTU and GTU rules. Many engineering universities, including AKTU, Anna University and VTU from the 2021 scheme, use CGPA × 10, which is why it is preselected here.

Grades are checked when you tap the button. An SGPA above 10, a credits box with letters in it, or credits typed for some semesters but not others get a plain message next to the button, and the cursor moves to the box that needs fixing.

Private, and the limits

Every semester you type stays on your device. Nothing is uploaded to TaskNinja, nothing is saved after you close the tab, and you do not need an account. Only anonymous usage counts are recorded.

Your university's CGPA on the final transcript is the official figure. Use this calculator to check your progress or fill a form before the transcript arrives.

FAQ

How do I calculate CGPA from SGPA?
Multiply each SGPA by that semester's credits, add the results, and divide by the total credits. 544.8 credit points over 66 credits is a CGPA of 8.25.
Can I average SGPAs without credits?
Yes. Leave all the credits boxes empty and the page takes the simple average. It is exact only when every semester has the same credits.
How do I convert SGPA to percentage?
Use the same rule as for CGPA. Type one semester, pick your university rule, and the page shows the percentage. Under a × 10 rule, 7.9 SGPA is 79%.
Where do I find the credits for each semester?
They are printed on each semester grade card, usually as total credits or credits earned, next to the SGPA.
How many semesters can I add?
Up to 12, which covers four year degrees, five year integrated courses and most diplomas.
