What this tool does

Age Calculator gives your exact age in years, months and days on any date you choose, including the 1 August cut-off used on many Indian exam forms.

How to use it

  1. Enter your date of birth. The line under the box shows it as DD-MM-YYYY, the order most forms use.

  2. Leave Age as on on today, or pick a preset. SSC CGL 2026, SSC CHSL 2026 and UPSC CSE 2026 all set 01-08-2026. Today, 1 Jan and 1 Aug follow the current year in India time.

  3. Read the completed years, months and days, the total days from birth to that date, and the next birthday counted from the as-on date.

  4. Optional: type a minimum age, a maximum age, and any extra years from your own notification. Copy summary if you want the figures in plain text.

Common uses

Exam forms in India rarely ask how old you are today. They ask your age as on a fixed date, often 1 August of the exam year. A person born on 2 August 1999 is not the same age on 1 August 2026 as someone born a day earlier, and that one day is the difference the notice prints as a birth-date window. This page does that subtraction in the calendar, not by dividing by 365.25, so the years, months and days match the way a clerk counts on a form.

Month ends are where casual counting goes wrong. Someone born on 31 January is not one month old on 27 February. The month completes on the last real day of February, which is 28 February, or 29 February in a leap year. A birthday of 29 February completes a year on 28 February when that later year has no 29 February. The page says so next to the countdown, because a few notices speak of 1 March instead. If yours does, follow the notice.

The presets for SSC CGL 2026, SSC CHSL 2026 and UPSC CSE 2026 only fill the as-on date, 01-08-2026. They do not mark you eligible. The SSC CGL notice uses that date and then gives a different birth-date window for different posts. The SSC CHSL 2026 notice says the posts are 18 to 27 years, candidates born not before 02-08-1999 and not later than 01-08-2008. The UPSC CSE 2026 notice says a candidate must have attained 21 years and must not have attained 32 years on 1 August 2026 for the unreserved limit, born not earlier than 2 August 1994 and not later than 1 August 2005. Each of those sentences is in the linked notice. Check your post and category in the official notice before you rely on a window.

If you want a yes or no, type the minimum and maximum yourself. Buttons for the UPSC General figures and the SSC CHSL 18 to 27 figures fill those boxes only after you click, and the note repeats that you must check your post and category. Extra years is a box you type. It is added to the maximum and nowhere else. The page does not keep a table of OBC, SC, ST or other relaxation. On the exact day a typed limit is reached, the result is Borderline, because notices differ on whether that day counts. Eligible means the completed years sit inside the numbers you typed. Not eligible means they do not.

Private, and the limits

A date of birth is personal. The sum is done by code in this browser tab. The dates are not sent to TaskNinja, not saved on a server, and not written into analytics. There is no account. The only events counted are anonymous ones such as the calculator being opened or the summary being copied, never the dates themselves.

This is a calendar, not a ruling on your application. Age relaxation, the post you pick, and the certificate you hold can all change the window, and those rules live in the notification. Closing dates for the form are a separate question from the age cut-off. If the notice and this page disagree, the notice wins.

FAQ

Is my date of birth uploaded?
No. Years, months, days and the birthday countdown are worked out in your browser. TaskNinja does not receive the dates.
How do you count a 31 January birthday?
One month later is the last day of February: 28 February, or 29 February in a leap year. The day after that is one month and one day.
What does age as on 01-08-2026 mean?
It is your completed age on 1 August 2026, not your age on the day you fill the form. The SSC and UPSC presets set that date. They do not set an age limit.
Do you apply OBC, SC or ST relaxation?
No. There is no built-in relaxation table. If your notification gives extra years, type that number in Extra years. It is added only to the maximum you entered.
What does Borderline mean?
The as-on date is the exact day you reach a minimum or maximum you typed. Some notices count that day and some do not. Read yours.
Can the as-on date be something other than 1 August?
Yes. Use Today, 1 Jan or 1 Aug of this year, or type any date. Clear either box if you want to start again.
