What this tool does

Prism File Viewer opens a GraphPad Prism project in this browser and shows its data tables, analysis results and info sheets, ready to save as Excel or CSV.

How to use it

  1. Choose a .prism or .pzfx file, or drop it on the box. It is read in your browser, not uploaded.

  2. The first data table opens straight away. Use the Sheet list to switch to another data table, a results sheet or the project info.

  3. For wide tables, press Next columns. Press Show all rows to see every row on screen.

  4. Download Excel to get every table on its own sheet, Download CSV for the table you see, or Copy table to paste it into Excel or Google Sheets.

Common uses

GraphPad Prism is the graphing and statistics program most biology, pharmacology and medical labs use for dose-response curves, t tests, ANOVA and survival plots. A Prism project keeps the raw data, the analyses and the graphs together, which is great inside the lab and awkward outside it. A supervisor sends a student the project from a paper, a collaborator shares the file behind a figure, a reviewer asks for the source data, or a former lab member left only .prism files behind. Prism is a paid subscription, it runs on Windows and Mac only, and the free Viewer Mode needs the full installer and does not let you copy or export anything. This page gets the numbers out in a few seconds on any computer or phone.

Both current formats open. Prism 10 introduced the .prism format, a package that stores each data table as CSV and the analysis settings and results as JSON. Older and still common is .pzfx, an XML file that Prism 5 to the latest version can save. The viewer reads the data tables from both, with their real column titles and the way the values were entered: replicates (Y1, Y2, Y3), mean with SD or SEM and N, mean with %CV, plus and minus errors, or upper and lower limits. Row titles and X values are kept, X dates stay as Prism wrote them, and values you excluded in Prism are shown crossed out with an asterisk.

In a .prism file the analysis results open too, because Prism 10 saves them as tables. A nonlinear regression gives its Table of results with the best-fit values, standard errors and confidence intervals, plus the fitted curve as a table of X and Y points. A survival analysis gives the survival proportions, the number at risk and the log-rank comparison. Each analysis is listed with its type and the data table it was run on, and the names of every graph and layout are listed so you know what the project contains.

For raw-value tables, the Column statistics block works out N, mean, SD, SEM, median, minimum and maximum for each data set, so you can sanity check a group without opening another program. Download Excel builds one .xlsx with an About sheet (Prism version, dates, info constants) followed by every data and result table, numbers stored as numbers, ready for R, Python, SPSS or a supplementary data file.

Private, and the limits

The Prism file never leaves your device. It is unpacked and read by code running in this browser tab; the Excel and CSV files are made on your computer as well. There is no upload, no account and no AI model. Unpublished results and patient-related data stay private, and closing the tab clears everything from memory.

This is a viewer and exporter, not a copy of Prism. Graphs are listed by name but not drawn, because Prism saves their drawing in its own private format. Analyses are not re-run and settings cannot be changed. Results are shown for .prism files only: a .pzfx keeps its analyses in a compressed block that only Prism reads, so you see its data tables and info sheets. Binary .pzf files need Prism itself.

FAQ

Can I open a Prism file without GraphPad Prism?
Yes. Choose the .prism or .pzfx file on this page and its tables open in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, on Windows, Mac, Linux, a Chromebook or a phone.
Is my Prism project uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read inside your browser. TaskNinja never receives it, and nothing is stored after you close the tab.
What is the difference between .prism and .pzfx?
.prism is the Prism 10 format: a package of CSV tables and JSON results. .pzfx is the older XML format that every Prism from version 5 can save. Both open here; results show for .prism.
Can I export Prism data to Excel?
Yes. Download Excel gives one workbook with every data table and result table on its own sheet. Download CSV saves the table on screen, and Copy table pastes into Excel or Google Sheets.
Are the graphs shown?
Graphs are listed by name only. Prism draws them from its own graph format, which is not public. The data behind each graph is in the tables you can see and export.
My .pzf file does not open. Why?
.pzf is Prism's older binary format, and its layout is not public. Open it in Prism or Prism Viewer Mode, save it as .pzfx or .prism, then open that copy here.
