What this tool does

Convert GraphPad Prism .prism and .pzfx files to Excel or CSV in your browser. Every data and result table on its own sheet, no Prism needed, no upload.

How to use it

  1. Choose the .prism or .pzfx file, or drop it on the box. It stays on your device.

  2. Check the tables on screen with the Sheet list, so you know what the workbook will hold.

  3. Press Download Excel (all tables) for one .xlsx, or Download CSV for just the table shown.

  4. Open the file in Excel, Google Sheets, LibreOffice, R or Python.

Common uses

Getting numbers out of Prism is a surprisingly common chore. Journals and funders ask for source data in a spreadsheet, a statistician wants the raw replicates for R, a colleague without a Prism licence needs the values behind a figure, or you are moving years of lab results into an electronic notebook. Inside Prism you would export sheet by sheet, and the free Viewer Mode cannot export at all. This page converts the whole project at once.

The workbook starts with an About sheet: the file name, the Prism version that created and last saved the project, the dates, the counts of tables and analyses, the names of the graphs, and the info sheet constants such as experiment date, experimenter and protocol. Then each data table gets its own sheet, named after the Prism table and shortened to Excel's 31 character limit. The first row holds one clear header per column, for example Control: Y1, Control: Y2 or Treated: Mean, Treated: SD, Treated: N, so the sheet works as a tidy table without merged cells.

Numbers are written as real numbers, not text, so formulas and charts work straight away. Long stored values such as 88.8888888888888857 are written in their shortest exact form. Text cells and row titles stay text. Values excluded in Prism keep Prism's own asterisk, for example 90*, so they are not silently mixed into your averages. For a Prism 10 .prism file the analysis results follow the data, such as the nonlinear regression Table of results and fitted curve points or the survival proportions and number at risk, each on its own sheet.

If you only need one table, pick it in the Sheet list and use Download CSV, which saves a UTF-8 CSV with the same header row that Excel opens with a double click, or Copy table, which puts tab-separated values on the clipboard for pasting into any spreadsheet.

Private, and the limits

The conversion happens on your computer. The Prism project is read in this tab and the .xlsx is built in memory and handed to your browser as a download. Nothing is sent to TaskNinja, there is no account, and the file name and contents are not logged.

Only tables are converted. Graph drawings, layouts and analysis settings stay in Prism, and the workbook lists the graph names so you know what is missing. .pzfx files give their data tables and info sheets; analysis results come out of .prism files. Old binary .pzf files need to be saved again as .pzfx or .prism in Prism first.

FAQ

How do I convert a Prism file to Excel without Prism?
Choose the .prism or .pzfx file here and press Download Excel. You get one .xlsx with every table, made in your browser.
Does the Excel file keep my column names?
Yes. Each column header combines the Prism data set title with its sub-column, such as Control: Y1 or Drug A: SEM, and row titles and X values stay in the first columns.
Are analysis results included?
Yes for Prism 10 .prism files: every saved result table gets its own sheet. A .pzfx file gives data tables and info only, because its analyses sit in a block only Prism reads.
Can I convert .pzfx to CSV?
Yes. Pick the table in the Sheet list and press Download CSV. Each table can be saved this way, or all at once in the Excel workbook.
Is the file uploaded to a server?
No. The whole conversion runs in your browser, so unpublished data stays on your device.
