Trevolyx system requirements
What you need to run Trevolyx browser CAD: WebGL2, WebAssembly, Chrome or Edge on a laptop or desktop, RAM and graphics card guidance from real measurements, and a one-click computer check.

Short answer
Trevolyx runs in a desktop web browser. Any laptop or desktop from roughly the last six or seven years with a current Chrome or Edge, WebGL2 and WebAssembly can run it. Integrated graphics such as Intel UHD, Intel Iris Xe or AMD Radeon integrated graphics are enough for typical parts. Use the Check my computer button above to test your machine in a few seconds; the test runs only in your browser.

What we measured
These numbers come from loading the live app at trevolyx.taskninja.ai in Chrome on 5 November 2026 with an empty cache. They are measurements, not benchmarks, and your numbers will vary with browser version and extensions.
| Measurement | Result |
|---|---|
| First visit download, start screen ready | About 8.3 MB transferred |
| Modelling engine (WebAssembly plus loader JS) | About 6.5 MB compressed (6.8 MB wasm, 24 KB JS) |
| JavaScript heap, start screen | About 14 MB |
| JavaScript heap, simple extruded part | About 16 MB |
| JavaScript heap, Pillow block STEP sample | About 15 MB |
| Tab plus GPU process memory, simple part | About 410 MB |
| Tab plus GPU process memory, Pillow block sample | About 430 MB |
How much RAM do you need?
The Trevolyx tab and its graphics process used a little over 400 MB with a simple part and the sample assembly in our test. Your operating system and browser need memory too, which is why 4 GB is the practical minimum and 8 GB is recommended, especially if you keep other tabs open. We have not yet published measurements for very large assemblies with hundreds of parts; as general guidance, larger models need more memory, so 16 GB is a sensible choice if you regularly open big supplier STEP assemblies.

Do you need a graphics card?
No. Integrated graphics (Intel UHD, Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon integrated) work for typical parts, sheet metal, weldments and small assemblies. What matters most is that the browser uses the GPU at all: if hardware acceleration is off, the browser falls back to software rendering and everything becomes slow.
As general guidance, a dedicated graphics card can help when rotating very large assemblies with many faces, but we have not measured that yet, so do not buy one just for Trevolyx. Modelling operations such as fillets and booleans run on the CPU in the WebAssembly engine, not on the GPU.
Supported browsers
Current desktop Chrome and Edge are fully tested. Firefox and Safari load the app and can model, but they are not fully tested yet, so you may meet rough edges. Phones and small tablets are not supported because CAD needs a mouse, keyboard and a large screen; these guides and the TaskNinja STEP viewer work on phones.
Offline use
After your first visit, the service worker caches the modelling engine files, so later visits load much faster and download very little. Full offline start of the app is not reliable yet: in our test, reloading the app with the network switched off did not open the start screen. Keep an internet connection when you open Trevolyx. Once a document is open, modelling runs on your computer and does not need the network.
Troubleshooting
- Turn on hardware acceleration. In Chrome open Settings, System, and switch on Use graphics acceleration when available, then relaunch. In Edge it is Settings, System and performance, Use graphics acceleration when available.
- Check that WebGL2 works. Open chrome://gpu in Chrome or edge://gpu in Edge and look for WebGL2: Hardware accelerated. If it says software only or disabled, continue below.
- Update your graphics driver from Intel, AMD or NVIDIA, or through Windows Update, then restart the computer.
- Blank or black viewport: reload the tab, close other heavy tabs, and turn off browser extensions that block scripts or canvas. On laptops with two GPUs, set the browser to use the high performance GPU in Windows Settings, System, Display, Graphics.
- Still stuck? Try a different browser profile or a guest window to rule out extensions, then use the Check my computer button again.
Frequently asked questions
What are the system requirements for Trevolyx?
A laptop or desktop with current Chrome or Edge, WebGL2 and WebAssembly. 4 GB RAM minimum, 8 GB recommended. Integrated graphics are fine for typical parts.
Do I need a graphics card for browser CAD?
No. Integrated Intel or AMD graphics work for typical parts. Make sure hardware acceleration is on in your browser.
How big is the download?
About 8 MB on the first visit, including about 6.5 MB for the modelling engine. Later visits reuse cached engine files.
Does Trevolyx work offline?
Engine files are cached after the first visit, but starting the app with no connection is not reliable yet. Open it online; modelling then runs locally.
Does it work on Safari or Firefox?
They load and model, but are not fully tested yet. Chrome or Edge is recommended.
Why is the 3D view black or blank?
Usually WebGL2 is disabled or running in software. Turn on hardware acceleration, update your graphics driver and reload.
