Turn sideways or upside down PDF pages and save the rotation into the file itself, so it opens the right way up on every phone, computer and portal.

What this tool does

Rotate a PDF and save it so it stays turned in every app. Fix sideways or upside down scans, one page or all pages. Runs in your browser, nothing is uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Choose the PDF that opens sideways or upside down. It stays on your device.

  2. Pick the turn and the pages, or tap single pages in the preview until each one looks right.

  3. Press Rotate PDF and download the new file. Open it anywhere and the pages stay turned.

Common uses

Rotating in Adobe Reader, Chrome, Edge or a phone viewer is usually only a view: close the file and it is sideways again, and the person you email it to sees the old direction. To make the change stick, the Rotate setting of each page has to be written into the PDF and the file saved again. That is what this page does, without Acrobat Pro and without sending the file to an online service.

The result is an ordinary PDF that any reader shows the right way up. Nothing else in the file is changed, so a scan keeps its sharpness, a text PDF stays searchable, and links, bookmarks and form fields still work. If the file is also too large for a portal, shrink it afterwards with Compress PDF; to send only some pages, use Split PDF.

Common fixes: a landscape certificate scanned on a phone that a university portal shows on its side; a double-sided scan where every second page is upside down (choose Even pages and 180°); a merged file where a few landscape tables lie sideways (choose Landscape pages); a single wrong page in a long contract (type its number or tap it in the preview).

Why does a PDF open sideways in the first place? Phone scanner apps and office copiers often save each page the way the paper went through, not the way you read it, and some apps store a portrait page with landscape content inside. Viewers then guess differently: one shows it upright, another on its side. Saving the rotation into the page itself removes the guesswork, because every reader, browser and upload portal follows the same stored direction. The preview here shows each page as it will look in the saved file, so what you see before you download is what everyone else will see after you send it.

Private, and the limits

Everything happens in this browser tab. The PDF is never uploaded, and the rotated copy is saved straight to your device with no watermark.

Changing a digitally signed PDF breaks the signature check, so keep the signed original. Locked PDFs need the known password removed first with Unlock PDF.

FAQ

How do I save a rotated PDF permanently?
Rotate it on this page and download the new file. The turn is stored in the PDF, so every app shows it the same way.
Do I need Adobe Acrobat Pro?
No. This page saves the rotation for free in any modern browser on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android or iPhone.
Is the file uploaded to save the rotation?
No. The new PDF is made on your device and never sent anywhere.
Can I turn just the upside down pages?
Yes. Type their page numbers, choose Odd or Even pages for a double-sided scan, or tap each one in the preview.
Will the rotated PDF lose quality or text?
No. Only the page direction is changed, so scans stay as sharp as before and text, links and bookmarks keep working.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Open this page in Chrome on Android or Safari on iPhone, pick the PDF from Files or Drive, rotate the pages and save the new copy back to your phone.
